Entry Level Multi Process

Welder

Designed as an entry level program, this 10 week, 300 hour course features training in the four most common welding processes. This course is approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, and qualifies for Better Jobs Ontario financial assistance (formerly Second Careers).

  1. SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding or Stick Welding)
  2. GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding or MIG Welding)
  3. FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)
  4. GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or TIG Welding)

The focus of the course is “hands on” training, with the majority of class time devoted to practical application of welding.

Basic welding theory is covered and there are one-on one tutorials for trades math. For homework, students work through self guided tutorials in welding symbols and blueprint reading. Students are expected to work on these components outside of school but additional one-on-one support is always available and offered if needed.

Upon successful completion, students will achieve three separate tickets with the Canadian Welding Bureau in SMAW, GMAW, & FCAW in the flat position. Additional qualifications can be obtained within the 10 week outline once mandatory requirements have been met.

In addition to the welding skills and the theory component, students learn cutting processes including Oxy-Fuel, Band saw, Grinding and Plasma Cutting.

Our program tuition includes all materials and text books required. You only need to purchase your welder tool kit. We have complete kits available for sale at our facility, or you can choose to purchase your own tools. Click here to view a list of the required tools.
